Review and practice of deep mining for solid mineral resources

Abstract: Based on the current situation of deep resources exploitation at home and abroad and its research achievements, the division and difference of the deep from industry and academy around the world were summarized in this work. The definition and the critical depth of deep mining for solid mineral resources and its mining modes were also discussed. Then, some new strategies and/or alternatives on deep mining for solid mineral resources were proposed for deep hoist & transportation, and temperature control of deep mining, etc.. Lastly, incorporating with the characteristics of high stress, great lifting depth and high temperature in deep hard-rock mines, a new strategy and mining mode which can be “convert harm into benefit” were given for the deep rare, valuable and strategic resources exploitation.
